About Artist

Hui Yu 喻慧, a scion of an illustrious lineage of calligraphers and painters, embarked on her artistic path under the tutelage of her father, the renowned Gongbi Bird-and-flower painter Jigao Yu 喻继高. Mastering both calligraphy and painting, Hui Yu has carved out a distinguished place in the world of modern Gongbi painting in China. Her works have been featured in the 8th, 10th, 11th, and 12th China National Art Exhibition, earning silver awards, and in the 9th and 10th National Art Festival. Additionally, her pieces were included in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Chinese Gongbi Painting Exhibition, where she also received accolades. Hui Yu has held solo exhibitions at prominent venues such as the National Art Museum of China, Zhejiang Art Museum, Jiangsu Art Museum, and Xuzhou Art Museum. Her works have been showcased internationally at events like the New York Asia Art Week, the London Olympic Art Exhibition, and the Medici Palace in Italy. Her art is part of the collections of major Chinese museums, including the National Art Museum of China and the Zhejiang Art Museum. She has authored over ten publications, including New Gongbi Bird-and-flower Paintings by Yu Hui and The Beauty of Truth: Collected Works of Chinese Paintings by Yu Hui.

In her paintings, Hui Yu captures the refined quality and poetic elegance that are hallmarks of Chinese painting. Her works reflect her innate talent, technical mastery, and a profound connection with the essence of traditional Chinese painting. As a female artist, Hui Yu continuously explores the spiritual realm, finding an ideal intersection in using traditional painting techniques to express contemporary ideas, thereby infusing new vitality into Bird-and-flower Painting.
