SSEW Project at the Canadian Commercial Gallerists Trade Mission to the 25th Biennale of Sydney

In March 2026, SSEW Project was invited by the Biennale of Sydney and the Consulate General of Canada in Sydney to take part in the Canadian Commercial Gallerists Trade Mission to the 25th Biennale of Sydney.

The Biennale of Sydney is one of the Asia-Pacific region's most significant contemporary art events. The trade mission brought together a delegation of Canadian commercial galleries to build meaningful and enduring relationships with Australian galleries, institutions, and collectors, and to support the diversification of cultural trade between the two countries.

Over the course of the mission, SSEW Project visited galleries and museums across Sydney, made connections with local commercial galleries, and held one-on-one business meetings and studio visits with artists and artists-in-residence. The delegation also attended the openings of the 25th Biennale of Sydney, presented under the artistic direction of Hoor Al Qasimi, whose program was created with, by, and for communities.

SSEW Project was honoured to take part alongside a distinguished group of Canadian galleries, including Susan Hobbs, Patel Brown, Artterra, Central Art Garage, Fazakas Gallery, and United Contemporary.
